The River Stour  Flowing from Sudbury in the West, through Dedham, Flatford and Manningtree and onto Ipswich the Stour is 47 miles long. In the East, the River Stour is a scenic and charming waterway, once again immortalised on numerous occasions by John Constable. It is a fantastic and scenic location perfect for walks and wildlife as well as viewing the Constable locations .

 

Hire a rowing boat in Dedham and explore the river, or take a less energetic trip on an electric boat from Flatford. There is rowing, kayaking, and wild swimming as well as the opportunity to have a fantastic meal at the attractive Boat restaurant. Also, see the Munnings museum in Dedham and have a look at the shops here.

 

If messing about on the river is not for you, then simply enjoy a scenic guided walk along the banks and take in the sites. Picturesque locks, as well as breathtaking views of the stunning landscape can be found along the waterside trails in this designated area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. You really will enjoy this lovely part of England.
