Cambridgeshire

Cambridge is a truly inspirational place, full of museums, art galleries and of course the colleges. In this exceptionally pretty old town admire the beautiful architecture and unbelievable craftmanship. All easily accessible by foot.  It escaped the destruction of the second world war, so it still has its ancient old buildings and its narrow, medieval streets. The historic town centre can only be visited on foot - no vehicles are allowed.   When that gets too much, we go punting (introduced in 1903) in a boat on the river Cam. More on this later.

Cambridge boasts King's College chapel (1446)  a wonderful gothic architecture with the wonderous flat ceiling that was the marvel of its day with the famous Rubens painting 'Adoration of the Mag'i (1634) hanging over the alter.

Of course there is the famous Mathematical bridge in Queens College . The first bridge to ever be designed and built using mathematical principles. We will discover the Gatehouse to Trinity College, and its statue of King Henry VIII holding an orb and old wooden chair-leg. Find-out the tradition surrounding the chair-leg and with notice let Select Events Planning get access to some of the colleges and their secrets.

Seeing the river from King's College bridge - gives great views of King's Chapel, King's College, Clare College and the "Backs" (gardens around the river).  Relax in one of the stunning restaurants , catch a student theatrical production or just take in the unique ambiance.
